CFB 25 Rumor Mill Picks Up

Also, Notre Dame confirms & Iowa wave is in

One week after the release of the CFB 25 teaser video, roughly 40 schools have heightened excitement for the game by sharing their cover designs across social media. News and rumors continue to break daily.

Let’s review what has been popping off over the past few days:

  1. Notre Dame makes it official. More on this below

  2. Kirk Herbsteit will once again have a prominent role, but ESPN exclusivity is not certain.

  3. The Iowa wave tradition to the Stead Family Children’s Hospital is in the game.

  4. What is a “Campus Environment” rating?

  5. CFB 25 player ratings chatter takes off.

We dive into all 5 topics below.

☘️ Notre Dame Confirms EA CFB 25 Status

We certainly had an idea that Notre Dame was in the game from the teaser video released last week with “Play Like A Champion Today” displayed for all to see.

The press release from Notre Dame speaks to the time and dedication on the part of the schools and EA Sports to hit on all relevant details.

Notre Dame began the press release with: “After nearly two years of work with EA Sports.” That should make everyone who is a fan of Notre Dame and this game, very excited.

We keep hearing that the stated goal from EA Sports is for CFB 25 players to have a “Real Connection” with the school and the players they recruit.

🗣️The CFB 25 Rumor Mill This Week

Matt Brown of Extra Points newsletter fame, appeared on a podcast this week and dropped some notes of interest.

🏟️ Campus Environment Rating

Now, this was being discussed in the context that EA Sports must configure Dynasty Mode with the pretext that 25% of your roster each season is impacted by player transfers.

At this point in the podcast, Matt mentioned a potential “Campus Environment Rating” that may impact many factors. Of course, he could not mention those, but we can certainly speculate:

  1. A high rating could improve interest from players wanting to transfer to your program, along with the retention of current players.

  2. NIL money. Plenty of cash to go around when things are going well and the rating is high.

  3. Assistant coach retention

  4. Positive recruiting impacts

  5. Facility improvements

  6. Head coach salary impacts

  7. ESPN Game Day visit potential

  8. National Signing Day impacts

  9. Player Drip options improve

……Just to name a few

📺 Does ESPN Have Exclusivity?

The official EA CFB 25 Instagram page made some waves when they followed the Fox Sports College Football account.

Is this the first big hint that we will not only have multiple announcer teams in CFB 25 but also multiple TV networks?

The EA CFB Twitter account is NOT following Fox Sports CFB, if you want to read into that.

Additionally, on the aforementioned Matt Brown podcast appearance, he confirmed that Kirk Herbstreit will have a prominent role in the game, along with several other ESPN Game Day on-air talent.

👋 Iowa Wave To Children’s Hospital Confirmed

What is widely considered the most special tradition in all of college football, has been confirmed for EA CFB 25. This is one of those topics where if it was not included, many people would hit the panic button.

Once again, we have to assume that EA Sports took an additional year to check all the boxes and get this game right.

Credit to Matt Brown for confirming this.
