Has EA Sports Hitched Its Wagon To Coach Prime?

🏈 Also, it looks like hoods hanging out of jerseys are in

Another busy week of news, rumors, and videos about CFB 25.

The Hit Stick team has been listening to podcasts, finding hidden gems in videos, and breaking down another awesome Chris Fowler update.

Let’s get into it!

💸 Multiple Coach Prime References This Week

Like it or not, Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffs are the current face of College Football when discussing NIL and the transfer portal.

It should come to the surprise of no one that EA Sports appears to be working with and potentially featuring Deion and the Buffs in CFB 25.

Yes, we were told coaches are not the in the game, but we have two references this week that state Coach Prime has found his way in.

1️⃣ VERY INTERESTING clip around the 8:20 mark of the video below with Coach Prime referring to EA Sports:

In the clip, Colorado Assistant AD for Sports Equipment Services Michael Smith is visiting with Coach Prime and showing him a sheet of paper while saying the following:

“They put together a deal with you and we can do an in-season release with the [new?] uniforms and if you want, we can send them all your stuff that you wear and they can like....you know what I'm saying?"

Coach Prime responds with "EA SPORTS, we do business."

👉 WHY DO WE CARE?

Well, it appears that EA may have an exclusive deal in place with Coach Prime, the Buffs, or both.

Notably, the reference to an “in-season” release of a new Buffs uniform is exactly the type of rumor that the CFB 25 community loves!

2️⃣ In the latest Chris Fowler CFB 25 update video, we heard this:

“If you pick Deion Sanders (Coach Prime) and his Colorado Buffaloes and win the National Championship in the game, you might get an extra special shoutout.”

Chris Fowler

BTW….We have more on the latest Fowler video below.

The evidence is clear to us that Coach Prime is in CFB 25. Some people may hate it, some love it, but as of now, he is the only coach in the game.

🎮 Chris Fowler CFB 25 Update #2

This week, Fowler shared a video on his Instagram, giving fans a glimpse into the once-secret recording booth for CFB25. Fowler’s last video racked up over 2 million views across various platforms.

Takeaways From Fowler Video #2:

  1. Two sessions this week. “I recorded the pregame setups for the new 12-team playoff bracket games: the on-campus game, four quarterfinals, and two semifinals. And it was really fun to sit in this little room in March and do a National Championship game setup.”

“Of course, gamers are going to experience the new bigger bracket this summer—way before it plays out on the field. And whoever you select in dynasty mode and take to a National Championship, Kennesaw State, Troy State, anybody—yes, to answer your questions, you will get a customized National Championship shoutout.”

“Speaking of longshots, I recorded today this: your defense forces and recovers a fumble in the endzone to win the game on the final play,” Fowler said. “It was a crazy high-energy call, but, yes, that was in the game.”

  1. Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning has opted out of being featured in the game. Fowler says there may be hope:

“There’s good news for fans hoping to see more players join the game. A second window in the spring allows for additional athletes, like Manning, to opt in and participate.”

👀 Kevin Connors Keeps Dropping Info

Earlier this week Kevin Connors of ESPN gave us a peek at some in-game script notes.

Yesterday, Kevin appeared on the “Syracuse Sports” podcast and of course, CFB 25 was a topic of conversation.

  1. Kevin Connors will be doing in-game updates and halftime updates.

  2. Kevin gave a brief example of how your game will cut away and you will hear, “Let’s get you caught up on what’s going in Morgantown, WV….”

  3. He continues to reiterate that the game is incredibly thorough. The smallest nuance has been considered by EA.

  4. When asked what a Syracuse football fan should expect, Kevin stated, “The game has a very authentic feel. You will feel like you are watching a game on TV with the overall presentation.”

  5. 🔥 Three other points of interest:

    1. Players can have hoods hanging out of the back of their jerseys.

    2. He mentioned picking from numerous uniform options

    3. Also a casual mention of picking your own schedule.

🎙️Herbie Talks CFB 25 Commentators

This news was hitting just as we were clicking publish on our last newsletter.

Kirk Herbsteit appeared on his son’s podcast called “Streit Talk” and dropped a few bombs.

Here are the main points of interest that Herbie shared about CFB 25:

- Herbstreit direct quote: "I think there's gonna be as you're doing different games, there will be different broadcast teams doing the game. That'll be a major, major difference between what it's been in the past and what they're gonna do now."

- He has not been scanned image for inclusion in the game.

- By the time he finishes for the year, he estimates he will have recorded 80 hours of commentary.

- He does not believe Lee Corso is in CFB 25, but does reveal Corso will return next season for College GameDay IRL.

- Herbie is unsure if College GameDay will actually be in EA College Football 25. He has done nothing for the studio side of things, just voice work.

- Herbie's kids said some comments about micro-transactions were made off-camera. When asked if Ultimate Team would be in CFB 25, Kirk said he is unable to talk about things like that due to an NDA.

- Herbie reiterated that the EA team has a focus on making this a different experience than Madden. Student sections, traditions, marching bands, mascots...etc.

We will be giving away copies of EA CFB ‘25 and possibly more(!?).

🏆 One Last Thing…..Kind of Odd

Some odd news here for sure…..

Top awards like the Biletnikoff and Maxwell will not be featured in EA Sports College Football 25.

The National College Football Awards Association tells On3 Sports that the group has opted out.

THE HEISMAN IS IN BTW.....

We fully expect the news cycle to get crazy for EA CFB ‘25 as we move forward into the Spring.
