What Everyone Is Asking About EA College Football 25: Your Questions Answered!
With over 16K subscribers and a very popular Facebook group, we noticed that the same questions keep popping up.
✅ Below are the most commonly asked questions concerning EA Sports College Football 25 and our answers.
🗓️ When Is The Release Date?
EA officially confirmed that the game will be released this Summer on their Q1 earnings call. That is the ONLY official statement on the release date.
The TARGET date appears to be Friday, July 19, 2024, but that is by no means the day the game will officially be available. It is safe to assume that at some point in mid-July, you will be playing EA College Football 2025.
👀 Can I Pre-Order CFB 25 Now?
No date has been set as of yet to pre-order CFB 25, BUT, we believe the “Full Reveal” that EA has promised for May 16th will also be the beginning of the pre-order process.
Placeholders for the game have gone live for the PS5 and XBOX consoles.
🎮 Will My Console Play EA CFB 25?
EA College Football 25 will be available EXCLUSIVELY on PS5 and XBOX Series X/S.
All signs point to cross-play availability between consoles, but this has not been confirmed as of yet. PC availability has not been confirmed.
🏟️ Is CFB 25 Just A Madden Re-skin?
WE CONTINUOUSLY hear that the game will be a “Madden Re-Skin”. Instead of combating the comment, just read what EA Sports has said publicly:
📣 Some Direct Quotes Sourced From EA Sports:
"While the game will be on the same engine as Madden, it will look and feel different than its NFL counterpart."
EA Sports has also stated that while CFB 25 is built on the FrostBite engine (same as Madden), a completely different dev team was hired to create the game.
Direct quote via an ESPN article on CFB 25: "He said he played a complete game using two teams Tuesday morning -- he wouldn't say which ones -- and that "it's got a unique feel." At this point, there's a lot of "polishing" the development team is still working on to be ready for a summer release, which Holt said is on schedule."
🔥 "User-generated content is a priority" 🔥
Presentation elements will feature stadium and campus renderings, sounds, detailed seats, trophies, statues, and more.
🏟️ Campus Environment Rating
Further proof of massive differentiation from Madden, is the rumored “Campus Environment Rating”.
If you want to make the argument that gameplay could be similar to Madden, we could go back and forth all day until CFB 25 is live on our screens.
No one can argue with the rumored structure of a Campus Environment Rating that will have a BIG impact on your Dynasty or Road to Glory journey through CFB 25.
So where did we get this whole idea from? Matt Brown of the Extra Points newsletter was on a podcast and described the following:
Now, this was being discussed in the context that EA Sports must configure Dynasty Mode with the pretext that 25% of your roster each season is impacted by player transfers.
At this point in the podcast, Matt mentioned a potential “Campus Environment Rating” that may impact many factors. Of course, he could not mention those, but we can certainly speculate:
A high rating could improve interest from players wanting to transfer to your program, along with the retention of current players.
NIL money. Plenty of cash to go around when things are going well and the rating is high.
Assistant coach retention
Positive recruiting impacts
Facility improvements
Head coach salary impacts
ESPN Game Day visit potential
National Signing Day impacts
Player Drip options improve

🤬 Look Below - How Can You Still Think This Is A Madden Re-Skin?
Let’s face it, this is one of the reasons why we love this game so much. The imagery, bands, fight songs, school traditions, cowbells. It will all be in the game. EA has requested materials from all participating schools, along with 3D stadium renderings.
The New EA College Football Game is going to have team-specific audio, they are expected to cater it to each school. Mississippi State reportedly submitted audio of the fans maroon and white chant, the fight song, big play reactions, and cowbells to EA. This likely means each school is doing this, and means we will have unique sounding audios for every stadium.
These audio files come straight from in-game usage - meaning players should hear the sounds of exactly what a packed out Davis-Wade Stadium would sound like.

🎯 Will All FBS Programs Be Represented?
Yes, all 134 FBS programs are in the game. As of March 4, 2024, over 90% of the eligible college football players opted into the NIL agreement to appear in CFB 25.

🎯 Is Team Builder In CFB 25?
As a community, we love this game because we can create a program from scratch and slowly build it into a national powerhouse.
There has been no confirmation on Team Builder for CFB 25, BUT we do have at least a handful of references to the following sentence from EA Sports:
🔥 "User-generated content is a priority" 🔥
We 100% believe that Team Builder will be in the game. A note of caution would be that EA has started to hint that the evolution of this game is a 2-year launch process. An example is the inclusion of FCS schools in CFB ‘26 and head coaches not included in CFB 25.
🍾 Are The College Football Playoffs Included?
Yes, EA Sports has confirmed a deal with the CFB Playoffs and a 12-team playoff will be present for launch.
The ability to customize the number of teams in the playoffs has been confirmed as well. Further customizations like conference eligibility and CPU selection override are unknown but expected.
Additionally, ALL bowl games are included in CFB 25.

💰What About NIL & The Transfer Portal?
Yes, the transfer portal and NIL will be included within “Dynasty Mode” and Road to Glory. That is all we know at this time. As you can imagine this area of information is a major focus of everyone looking forward to this game.
The pressure will be on EA to structure this in a way that does not destroy one of the most popular modes of the game.
Some additional player notes:
Mid-season roster updates
No player face scans
You will not be able to create a player who does not opt into the game (legal reasons). You can create fictional players though.
EA is trying to license around 85 players per team (over 11,000 total). It's on the players to opt in before the April deadline.
Multiple Transfer Options
Matt Brown (Extra Points Newsletter) has reported that EA is planning to allow players to transfer more than once.
📺 Can We See Screen-Shots or Video Demos?
We have not seen much from EA since the first CFB 25 trailer hit on Feb. 15th. But there was plenty in the teaser to keep us busy for a while.
EA Sports gave us plenty of design hints and made sure to show off some mascots and other imagery for #CFB25

👀 What Is The Full Reveal in May???
Outside of the video teaser, this “Full Reveal in May” comment has had the CFB 25 community buzzing. It certainly shortens the timeline in waiting for a “complete” view of the game before July.
💡 It is also safe to assume that the pre-order process begins in May as well.
🎙️ Who Are The Game Announcers? Only ESPN?
EA has a deal in place with ESPN to use on-air voice talent. It appears that ESPN has held onto exclusivity for CFB 25.
There was some hope that Gus Johnson and FS1 network branding would be included. As of now, that does not appear to be the case.

Here are the main points of interest that Herbie shared about CFB 25:
- Herbstreit direct quote: "I think there's gonna be as you're doing different games, there will be different broadcast teams doing the game. That'll be a major, major difference between what it's been in the past and what they're gonna do now."
- He has not been scanned image for inclusion in the game.
- By the time he finishes for the year, he estimates he will have recorded 80 hours of commentary.
- He does not believe Lee Corso is in CFB 25, but does reveal Corso will return next season for College GameDay IRL.
- Herbie is unsure if College GameDay will actually be in EA College Football 25. He has done nothing for the studio side of things, just voice work.
- Herbie's kids said some comments about micro-transactions were made off-camera. When asked if Ultimate Team would be in CFB 25, Kirk said he is unable to talk about things like that due to an NDA.
- Herbie reiterated that the EA team has a focus on making this a different experience than Madden. Student sections, traditions, marching bands, mascots...etc.
🏈 Are Coaches In The Game?
No, you will not see current college football coaches stalking the sidelines in CFB 25.
It does appear that cameo appearances for coaches are in the game. We covered the evidence surrounding Coach Prime having a role in CFB 25.
📈Any Idea on Playbooks Yet?
The only information we have CFB 25 playbooks comes from an ESPN interview with Daryl Holt of EA Sports:
This goes back to game -- and program -- integrity. Holt said the focus is to make sure teams in the game play like the teams in real life do. "You almost could say there's 134 different ways to play," Holt said, because of the nuances of different programs -- from off-field recruiting to on-field play.
That includes the play styles of each team, which meant building out new plays and sets to match formations in the game. Holt said the plan is to "show that wide-open aspect of explosive gameplay in college football," which can be vastly different from the NFL.
💧What Do We Know About Drip?
We finally have an update on some equipment and potential drip options for CFB 25.
Vicis and Schutt announced that their helmets will be in the game. Vicis went as far as to mention the helmet types, for which we provided a screenshot below.
Riddell speed flex helmets are in the game as well.
